"Breath to Eternity"
2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (NIV)
A common condition with Christians is a pre-occupation with life, which is not necessarily a bad thing to be pre-occupied with! The challenge is how do you live in this world when we are not of this world? What should your life look like as a Christian when the grime of life is blinding your ability to see? God calls you to live with your eyes fixed on Him. Not looking back or fearing the future, but by faith, trusting God’s promises.
I tend to want to walk away without getting my hands dirty. I also become pre-occupied with the offense and not the opportunity in God’s kingdom. I find that when I focus on the person, the needs, and the outside environment I find I can keep my heart and mind in God’s kingdom and not the kingdom of this world. Hebrews 7:18-19 points me to Jesus and not law, “The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.” (NIV)
