"A Pure Heart"

2 Chronicles 1:10-12 “Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people . . . God said to Solomon, "Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king . . . "

I have always loved the beatitude in Matthew 5:8 that says, “The pure in heart will see God,” but I never pondered what a pure heart looked like.  When reading this passage the Holy Spirit said to me, “This is a pure heart!”  Solomon had anything he wanted and could strive for abundance without limits, but instead he asked for wisdom and knowledge to govern righteously.  This type mindset is so different from our world.  Seeing God’s pleasure in people seeking other interests, motivated me that much more to seek a pure heart that does not seek riches, honor, and revenge, but the good of others.
