"Time for Real Food"
John 6:27 “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.”
Using the food analogy to test my devotion to Christ quickly revealed how my hunger for God is lacking. Seldom do I miss three meals a day. Do I have three meals of Jesus each day? Are my spiritual meals hearty meals consisting of one to two chapters of Scripture and five to fifteen minutes of prayer? Two? One? Jesus is too often delegated to your prayer partner in the shower or car! We spend so much of our life on that which spoils instead of on the food that endures for God’s eternal work and blessing. If we believe Jesus is the source of life, then let’s feed on Him like He was the bread of life!
How about you? Where does God rank in your life? Is God your meat and drink or merely an occasional snack? In John 4:13 Jesus answered, "Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." What Scriptures have better equipped you to accept God’s forgiveness and to reach out to those in need?
