GROWING IN CHRIST

"Let Heart Beat Like Jesus' Heart"

Date published: 10/01/2013
Hebrews 12:15 “See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”  (NIV)

Will your goal today be to assure that each person you interact with knows Jesus Christ? Does your heart beat for the lost knowing the difference between having or not having Jesus as their Savior is heaven or hell? Verbally sharing Christ with others is one part of seeing that no one “misses the grace of God,” but living a life that reflects Jesus and does nothing to distract another from knowing Christ is just as important.  Your goal in interacting with others is to assure you leave no one with dissension or bitterness, but instead you leave a taste of Christ by the life you live in Him. This is no easy task considering the propensity we have to be self-centered and prideful. In Mark 10:27, Jesus answered His disciples when they were struggling with the difficulty of doing what Jesus had told them, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." To allow God to accomplish His best in you, begin each day by being refreshed in the Word of God and prayer. Meeting with God each morning will not only allow God to prepare your heart for the day, but will also equip you for every interaction you will have with others. Isaiah 50:4 describes the benefits of meeting with God each morning, “The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.  He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.” Use your time with the Lord each day to not only allow God to refresh you, but also to commit every aspect of your life to the Lord knowing that it is God Himself who can present Himself through you to others. Psalm 37:5-6 promises, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”

Philippians 2:14-16 “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the Word of Life — in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.”  (NIV)
