"Living Indestructibly"

Date published: 08/25/2013
Hebrews 7:16 “One (Jesus) who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to His ancestry but on the basis of the power of an Indestructible Life.”  (NIV)
This verse offers every Christian tremendous hope.  It reminds us that our salvation and our life in Christ are based not on others or the things of this world, but on God Himself who is indestructible.  No matter how difficult your times or impossible your situation, your God is greater than whatever you are facing.  The problem with most Christians is they have not placed their lives fully into the hands of Christ.  When you do not place your life in the hands of Christ, you are delivering your life to the forces of evil, the world, and the weaknesses of your flesh.  You have submitted yourself to things outside of Christ instead of living in the power and strength of Christ as Paul described in Ephesians 6:10-12 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”  You are eternally indestructible, but when you fully surrender your life to Christ, you are putting on Christ and His full armor (the belt of Truth, the breastplate of Righteousness, your feet shod in the preparation of the Gospel of Christ, the shield of Faith to quench the fiery darts of the evil one, the helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God). Living this way makes your life on this earth indestructible not necessarily in a physical sense, but by placing yourself in Christ’s hands for His work and purpose so that He can carry you through every situation.  There is no circumstance Christ cannot take you through to bring about His purpose and plan in your life.  Live an indestructible life by:
  • Placing your trust in Jesus - Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act.”
  • Believing and acting on His promises - 2 Peter 1:4 “He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature.”
  • Being still and allowing God to work - Exodus 14:13-14 “Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.’”
  • Knowing that God’s plans for you are indestructible - Psalm 33:11 “But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.”
