Hebrews 3:6 “But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are His house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.” (NIV)
We often make commitments to the temporal entities around us while ignoring or giving only half-hearted effort to the eternal opportunities that God has placed in our lives. This verse highlights the responsibility that you have in doing your part for “God’s house.” As a part of God’s house (body of Christ), you play a key role in how God’s house is not only represented, but how it is also used for growing and glorifying His kingdom. Your roles may be several: 1) Sharing the Gospel to those who do not know Christ, 2) Discipling others to fully know and experience Christ, 3) Allowing God to use you according to the gifts He has bestowed upon you, and 4) Maybe most important of all, being a Godly ambassador of Christ who represents God’s love, mercy, and compassion to a lost and hurting world. 1 Peter 2:9-10 describes us, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” You represent God’s house on earth in personification and mission. God wants you to represent Him well by allowing Him to live His life through you. Your submission to Christ takes you on a walk of faith that does not include the gratifications the world gives to its temporal activities, but God does give you the opportunity to experience more of Him through His faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 promises, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.” God is faithful to work in your life as you move forward with courage in His hope. As you have accepted certain responsibilities in life for the benefit of those around you, accept the role you play in God’s house on earth. See your place, hear your calling, know your purpose, and with courage and hope allow God to make His House magnificent through His representation of Christ in you.
Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (NIV)
