Luke 12:21 “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God." (NIV)
In our time-consuming, materialistic world, it is not difficult to be lured into the trap of storing up things for yourself that ultimately replace God. Advertising, retail stores, what others possess, your desire to be accepted by others, seeking importance and power, hobbies and interests can make God secondary and displace your relationship with Him. None of these by themselves is wrong, but anything that makes God second in your life is wrong. God wants you to be rich in relationship with Him so that His work and impact is large. You may have heard that love for your children is spelled T-I-M-E. The same is true for loving God. You become rich in relationship, peace, security, and fulfillment when you spend time with your Heavenly Father. Spending time with God and cultivating a relationship with Him will not only help you in navigating the pleasures of this world, but will also allow your Lordship with Him to magnify His presence and work in you.
John 15:9 "As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love.” (NIV)
