GROWING IN CHRIST

"Sowing for Life"

Date published: 05/06/2012

Psalm 126:5 “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” (NIV)

Living life with Jesus is often about sowing your life into Jesus.  A follower of Christ realizes that everything in his/her life is nothing compared to the opportunity to knowing and living for Jesus.   Philippians 3:7-8 says, “But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.  What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.  I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ.”  Paul did not come to this mindset instantaneously, but over a period of time as he sowed his life into the life of Christ.  You sow your life into Christ anytime you yield an area of your life to the Lordship of Christ.  The process of sowing your life into Christ will encompass many emotions ranging from joy, to the hesitation of new direction, and even to sadness.  You will often sow in tears when you are handing over to Jesus something that is precious or important to you.  You give that person or thing to Jesus trusting Him with the results.  Whether you see the results today or with Jesus in heaven, you can have faith that you will “reap with songs of joy!”

2 Corinthians 4:16-5:1 “Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.  Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”  (NIV)
