James 3:18 “Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.” (NIV)
Disharmony seems to be increasing in all areas of life - in families, work environment, personal relationships, and sadly even in church. The way people tend to pursue peace is often to disengage instead of mutually working together to find common ground that unites instead of divides. 1 Peter 4:8 says, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” God wants you to sow in peace, which means you are to work at it with every means possible to achieve peace. The result of actively working at peace is righteousness. Righteousness has the opportunity to produce a wide array of possible results: Peace instead of bitterness, changed character instead of hardened hearts, reconciliation instead of enmity, love instead of hate, and salvation instead of separation from God. God wants you to sow peace to produce righteousness which results in changed lives. Your passion for peace should be that much more important knowing that Jesus came to change lives. Lives cannot be harvested to righteousness if you leave behind a trail of broken relationships. Sow in peace and God will reap a harvest of righteousness through you!
2 Corinthians 9:10-11 “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.” (NIV)
