"Experiencing God Through Obedience"

Date published: 10/24/2011
Mark 16:15, 20 “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation’…Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed His word by the signs that accompanied it.” (NIV)
Jesus spoke and the disciples obeyed.  They reaped the fruit of their obedience by God working in their lives and confirming His Word to them.  You may not hear the physical voice of Jesus speaking directly to you – but out of your relationship with Jesus, you can receive words of direction and guidance that are as real as those spoken to the disciples.  Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”  Hearing God’s Word is not random and done through occasional interactions with God, but through a daily relationship with Him.  Spending time in prayer and His Word opens His will to your life so that you can live your life in God’s power and presence.  Isaiah 50:4-5 says, “The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.  He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.  The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.”  Passionately seek God, have ears to hear, and then obediently respond to His direction and work in your life.  Now enjoy experiencing God’s work!
Exodus 33:16-17 “‘How will anyone know that You are pleased with me and with Your people unless you go with us?  What else will distinguish me and Your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?’  And the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.’”  (NIV)
