GROWING IN CHRIST

"Is There Room in Your Inn"

Date published: 08/06/2011

Luke 2:7 “She (Mary) gave birth to her firstborn, a Son.  She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”  (NIV)

As our Savior-to-be came knocking on the door of the Inn from the womb of His mother Mary, so He still knocks today on the door of each person’s life.  Jesus today continues to knock on the doors of those who do and do not know Him as Lord and Savior.  To those who have never come into a saving relationship with Christ, He continues to knock wanting to come in for the salvation of all who do not have a personal relationship with Him.  John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  The question that each person faces when Jesus comes knocking at the door of his/her life, “Are you willing to recognize your sinfulness and your need of Jesus by asking Him to come into your life as Lord and Savior?  Are you willing to make room in the Inn of your life or will you continue to live independently of Jesus in your own depravity?”  Romans 10:8-10 says, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”  If you already know Jesus as Lord and Savior, He continues to knock at the door of your life seeking your desire for His total Lordship in your life.  Jesus desires to occupy your whole life – every room of the Inn, so that you can experience the full abundance He promised in John 10:10 – “I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.”  Are you making only a few rooms of your life available to Jesus, or are you opening all the rooms to Him?  John 14:23 says, “Jesus replied, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will obey My teaching.  My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.’”  Jesus does not want to have access to just a few rooms, but to all the rooms that comprise your life.  When Jesus knocks at the door of your life, do not sequester Him to the manger out back or to a select number of rooms; invite Him in so that He can actively live and manifest Himself in every area of your life!

Revelations 3:20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me.”  (NIV)
