"Living for Maturity in Christ"

Date published: 03/05/2011

Ephesians 4:13 “Until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.”  (NASB)

Are you living your life in a way that moves you to maturity in Christ so your life represents the full stature of Christ?  God’s desire is for you to grow to full maturity so that your life represents Christ.  He wants you to become a living personification of Christ so that all can see Christ in you and experience His love and grace.  Take time to step back and evaluate your life in relationship to God’s desire for you.  Lamentation 3:40 says, “Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.”  The way you spend your time will reveal your priorities, goals, and what is important to you.  Does the investment of your time represent God’s desire for you or a life that is centered on your desires?  To reach maturity you must put Christ first.  You will continue to grow in maturity through a devotional life that puts you into God’s presence on a continual basis.  Out of your intimacy and devotion to Christ will flow a prioritization of your life that will allow God full access to every aspect of it.  A final ingredient to attaining maturity in Christ will be your participation in the body of Christ.  Your life in the body of Christ will release spiritual gifts, teaching, accountability, and encouragement to help you move to full maturity.  Ephesians 4:12 says, “The equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.”  Determine now to live your life in a way that moves you towards maturity  so that you can be all that Christ desires you to be!  Be a Galatians 2:20 Christian: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ Who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Colossians 1:28 “We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.” (NASU)
