Luke 16:11 “So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?” (NIV)
Have you ever thought of the handling of your possessions, valuables, and money as an audition for being entrusted by God with things of eternal importance? The things of this world are of minor importance and consequence compared to the eternal work God wants to do through you. Yet where is your heart and focus? Our lives are often consumed with getting the best and most pleasing job instead of seeing God’s purpose in your job. Our lives are filled with worry about our ability to buy the things we want and desire rather than the things we actually need. We live in fear from the constant anxiety of wondering what our future will look like and how we will make it. Instead of the emphasis being on you, place the emphasis on God’s will and work. 2 Thessalonians 1:11 says “We constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.” Commit your possessions and responsibilities to God for His care and work so that your faith is refined for God’s use. God has a kingdom purpose for you. 1 Corinthians 4:2 says “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” Prove yourselves trustworthy with the things of this world so that God can do great things in the kingdom through you!
1 Peter 1:7 “These have come so that your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” (NIV)
