2 Corinthians 4:11 “For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that His life may be revealed in our mortal body.”
We learn two important principles about the process of becoming Christ-like in this verse. Becoming Christ-like takes time and involves dying to self. Both of these principles are opposite of our human nature -- we like what we want quickly and what we get must benefit ourselves. To become more Christ-like, it is important that you expose your life to God’s Word and prayer on a daily basis. As you do this, the Holy Spirit will pour His life into you while giving you the direction and strength to live in the power and fullness of Christ. Without the constant exposure to God’s Word and prayer, you will make yourself vulnerable to being made like Christ out of your flesh and not through the work of the Holy Spirit. You will be left to your strength which falls woefully short of what is needed to “change the old to new. ”Passionately seek a personal and growing relationship with Christ. Begin each day with God – having the expectation of not only experiencing His truth, but also Christ’s love, grace, and power.
5 Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”
