1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (NIV)
The concept of love has always struck me as one of the easier concepts in my Christian walk. When I categorized Christ’s opportunities in my life, love never ranked at the top. But in the last year, God has challenged my heart and mind on love. God has shown love as being one of my bigger deficits in my Christian walk. God has methodically shown how every aspect of my Christian walk develops from the reservoir of God’s love in me. It is out of that reservoir of God’s love in me that love naturally flows from my life. As I surveyed my life, I found that a deficit of love has surfaced to those I do not like, those who malign me, those who hurt me, those who do not hurt me that I think hurt me, those who do not do, those who do, those that move slower than me, those who drive slower than me, those who do not hire me, and the list goes on and on. The more God enlarges His love in my life, the greater the deficit of love in me is revealed. God’s love for me is like a light shining on my deficiencies. The wonderful thing about this deficit of love is that it is filled by God’s abundant love for me. The desire to love more has created a hunger to draw into God to receive more of His love and grace. As you read the Bible and pray this week, seek God’s eyes and heart on how you might pour out His love into the lives of others.
1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (NIV)
