"Starting With Jesus"

Date published: 02/07/2010

Psalm 5:3 “In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.” (NIV)

When I read this verse, I feel the exuberance and excitement of the writer in meeting with the Lord. I do not get the impression he is going through a routine or doing something mundane, but elatedly proclaiming to God that “in the morning, You will hear my voice.” I see him rolling out of bed each morning, excitedly coming to God in prayer. The writer cannot wait to get on his knees before the Lord so that he can share, learn, and hear from Him. He does not pray in doubt, but in the expectation that the living God of the universe is there to converse, guide, and assure him about the things to happen in his day. How exciting to begin the day with the “One”Who makes it happen, completes your existence, and fulfills your purpose and destiny in life! The “One” Who knows you as no one else does and Who desires your very best. Your God is alive and wants to rain continued blessings on your life each day. When you wake up tomorrow morning, do not wake up to “Oh, it is Monday,” but “What does God have in store for me today?!”

Psalm 90:14 “Satisfy us in the morning with Your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” (NIV)

Deuteronomy 28:8 “The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land He is giving you.” (NIV)

Deuteronomy 28:12 “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands.” (NIV)
