Matthew 13:58 “He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.”
Are Christians today missing miracles that God wants to do through and for them? God personalized this verse for me this week by asking me what miracles am I missing because of my lack of faith.
As I prayed about my faith, God gave me two more principles that enlarged the importance of acting on my faith. Jesus said in Matthew 22:32 that He wanted to be my God today, tomorrow, and when I pass from this earth: “He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” Then Jesus brought it into focus in Matthew 21:43 when He said, “Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.”
God wants to live in, thru, and around your life each day. As God does this, fruit will be born in you, in those you encounter, and in the world itself. God will bear fruit because where God lives, the world is not just touched but changed – resulting in fruit! Ultimately our lives in Christ are meant to bear a harvest for the Kingdom of God!
Realizing this and doing it will challenge your faith. Schedules will be challenged; time will be squeezed; risk will be present; and comfort will be replaced with fruitful activities. You will need to develop an intimacy and a trust in God as never before because these steps of faith will put increasing pressure on you.
It is at this point you will become more vulnerable to the world, its ways, and its teachings. Jesus said in Matthew 16:6, “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” All the pressures and temptations of the world will entice you to accept false truths while seeking to satisfy your desires to make your walk with Christ easier.
Put on the armor of God mentioned in Ephesians 6:10-18 to prepare yourself to allow every opportunity in life to be an opportunity for God to grow your faith. Jesus challenged the faith of every Christian in Matthew 13:32, “Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.” Every opportunity is an opportunity to grow your faith.
Let your small steps be big steps for God. Let your faith encourage the faith of Christians around you. May you live in a growing and expanding faith that produces fruit one hundred-fold.
Matthew 17:20 “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
