"Stepping into Jesus "

Date published: 10/13/2014
Psalm 111:7 “The works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy.” (NIV)

This is a verse that every follower of Christ should memorize and keep before them daily. Each day your life is filled with opportunities to trust God or give way to the flesh, the world, or satan. The over-riding principle is that God is faithful, and everything He does is just. The various opportunities you face each day call on various Scriptural truths that are trustworthy. Psalm 37:5 encourages you in the response God desires of you, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him and He will do this.” (NIV)

Life is filled with difficult challenges that many times stir your sinful flesh to react inappropriately. God wants you to pick righteousness at every turn. You do this by trusting in God knowing that He is faithful and what He does is right. Can you trust God like Jesus did in 1 Peter 2:23, “When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly.” (NIV)

Believing in God’s faithfulness and justice are important not only for you, but also for those who are affected by God’s work in your life. God is crafting a beautiful diamond in you. Each intersection of you choosing God over the world releases the Holy Spirit to more fully work in your life. 2 Timothy 1:12 says, “That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.” (NIV) You are entrusting your life to God in the same way Jesus entrusted His life to our Heavenly Father. Your trust in God shouts to the world what a great and awesome God you have! God will use your step of faith to draw others to Himself. This is truly where love and faithfulness meet – your love for God and others is lived out in your faithfulness to God.

Psalm 85:10 “Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.” (NIV)
