How magnificent it would be for others to look upon you and see the radiance of the Lord! Not only will those who look upon you see God’s radiance, but also a countenance that reflects no shame or despair. Do you desire this type of countenance? Hopefully you do! So let’s explore how you get there. This verse gives your first peek at becoming radiant for God – looking to Him. David says in Psalm 31:16, “Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.” (NIV) What is your position with God? David describes himself as a servant and one who looks to the Lord. Is God your mover and sustainer? Or is He a convenient trapping to call upon when your needs require it? The transformative process of becoming like Jesus starts when you become His servant, positioning Him first in your life.
Positioning God at the center of your life will cause you to crave relationship with Him. Seek to know God by having a daily quiet time consisting of Bible reading and prayer. Continue this dedicated time throughout the day by continuing to uplift God’s Word in prayer, meditation, and obedience. Relish your time with the Lord so that your love for Him grows. 1 Corinthians 8:3 describes the results of loving God, “But the man who loves God is known by God.” (NIV) Your growing relationship with God will bring you to a closer connection with Him, which will further feed your love and desire for Him.
Your relationship with the Lord will always challenge your Lordship with Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:31 shows how Lordship calls you to do everything to His glory, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (NIV) When God confronts you with areas requiring obedience, do it knowing that all you are and do is for God’s glory. This self-sacrificing transformation accelerates as your life becomes captivated by God. Psalm 35:9 further illustrates this leading to delight in all God has for you. “Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in His salvation.” (NIV) You live life in the appreciation and joy of possessing the most precious gift you can have – salvation, life eternal with God, paid for by the precious blood of Jesus. Your delight in God is an expression of faith that invites God to go deeper into your life releasing an even greater radiance of His life and glory in you! Position yourself with God, pursue relationship with Him, submit to His Lordship, and by faith delight in Him, so that your life radiates God’s glory!
Psalm 32:10 “Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing lovesurrounds the man who trusts in Him.” (NIV)
