James 1:9 “The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position.” (NIV)
Imagine being the last person picked in the NFL draft. Every single person before you
Christians who are placed in difficult situations can take pride knowing that their humble circumstance has placed them in a position where some of God’s greatest craftsmanship takes place. Your very circumstances have not defeated you, but placed you in the enviable position of James 2:5 to trust God with your circumstances: “Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him?” (NIV) Your skills, talents, and resources may be inadequate for the situation, but your inadequacy positions God for His best work. This is a wonderful time to grow closer to God in relationship and experience as God turns your weakness to the strength talked about in Hebrews 11:34b when great people of faith became powerful: “Whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle.” (NIV)
When faced with insurmountable odds and difficulties do these three things:
Life may look difficult, but take pride in the fact that God is at work in and through you. Any time you are in the hands of God, you are in the highest of positions.
1 Corinthians 1:26-29 “Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.” (NIV)
