· Colossians 3:2 gives you the framework for living your life as a new creation, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (NIV) You cannot live your life for the things of this world and expect God’s work to flourish in you. Place everything under the Lordship of Jesus and allow His life to be shown in you.
· Colossians 3:5 shows you how to deal with earthly things, “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature.” (NIV) Whatever is controlling or consuming your life needs to be ended. Give it to God. Ask God to replace it with His desires and ways.
· 2 Corinthians 3:18 gives the secret for transforming your old man to the new creation you are, “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (NIV) Daily communing with the Lord in prayer and His Word transforms you by the Lord’s glory. Nothing should replace you having a passionate, intimate relationship with Christ.
Hebrews 5:13-14 directs you to the solid food necessary for maturity in Christ, “Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” (NIV) Allow God to take you to maturity in Christ by applying His Word and leadings. Do not be a hearer of the Word, but a doer.
God wants you to experience His life as the new creation you are. Seize – take hold of – who you are in Christ and live your life passionately through Him. There is nothing more powerful than taking the new creation you are and plugging it into the full life of Christ!
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — His good, pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV)
